This friday from 4 pm: Total outage of the network due to server maintenance

# Instructions

## Instructions for the connection to the network

### For all systems

You have to authenticate for the network. You can read here, how to do this:

### Instructions for common operating systems

Windows 10 mac OS X Linux WLAN Router Windows 8 iOS Android Windows 7/Vista
• We primary provide wired network (socket-outlet in your room) but we also try to provide WLAN (rommelwood)
• It works like WLAN in university (FAU.fm, eduroam)
• Use the credentials from this homepage
• We use TLS certificates signed by Let’s Encrypt (we are signed by this Root CA)
• If you can configure a domain to validate, use radius.rommelwood.de. That’s the domain of our authentication service.
• For better security your system should verify this certificates on authentication (pinning)
• If you have problems with the configuration you can ask your useradmin at “human times” during the day
• If your device supports it, use TTLS with PAP

### Further info for interested people

If you’re interested: since march 2011 we own a network-infrastructure with HP ProCurve Switches. Because the switches support it and we can almost completely use ready-made software, we use the 802.1X protocol for the user-authentication. That facilitates the administrative work a lot for us, but is a little bit more effort for the users (just once). Once you configured everything you don’t need to look after your system, as long as it is alive.

In detail we support EAP-TTLS-PAP, PEAP-MSCHAPv2 and EAP-TTLS-MSCHAPv2. The latter is supported since Windows XP SP3 but might not be activated. In order to change that just follow our instructions.
